Personal training, ten minutes down Woodbine
Just 10 to 15 minutes down Woodbine, Thrive Fit offers something very different from a traditional gym: individualized personal training in a quiet, supportive studio with no mirrors, no hype and no wandering around wondering what to do.
Who this is for
Eighteen of every hundred members live in the Upper Beach and the Woodbine corridor. It is the second-largest group we have, and almost all of them drove past somewhere closer to get here.
People don't drive to Thrive because we're the closest gym. They come because they've already discovered that having a gym nearby isn't the same thing as having a place where they'll actually succeed. We're not competing against the gym five minutes from their house. We're competing against the experience they expect to have inside that gym.
Why people come down Woodbine
Almost nobody arrives because of the drive. They arrive because convenience did not solve the problem: the closer place was easy to join, easy to skip, and there was nobody there who noticed either way.
What ten minutes buys you
A place you keep going back to. Distance is the strongest predictor of whether somebody sticks - which is exactly why fifteen minutes works and forty-five does not. Close enough to be a habit, different enough to be worth the drive.
Not only have I seen amazing physical results - I am stronger and leaner, but my energy levels have also soared. The supportive community here makes every workout fun, and I genuinely look forward to coming in.
What it costs, before we start
Second only to The Beaches itself. Membership starts at $225 biweekly plus HST, and everyone begins with a private Body Reset Baseline that costs nothing and commits you to nothing.

What members say
As someone who has never consistently exercised, been very intimidated and not confident about going to a gym her whole life... I haven't missed a single week.
During my first workout at Thrive, I lost my balance and fell. Rather than embarrassment, the three other people there shared they had all fallen at the beginning.
I'm a 65 year old woman who, for the last 10 years or so, was exercising mainly by walking... Brian, Stephanie and Luis are amazing. They know their stuff inside out.

How long does it actually take from the Upper Beach?
Ten to fifteen minutes down Woodbine, depending where you start and whether you hit the lights at Queen. From the Woodbine subway end it is closer to fifteen; from around Kingston Road it is under ten.
Is parking easier here than up on Danforth?
Usually, yes. Street parking on Queen and the side streets north of it, and considerably easier before 8am than at 6pm. Most members who drive have never had a problem with the early slots.
I already belong to a gym closer to home. Why change?
Because a gym nearby is not the same as a place you will actually keep going to. If the closer option had solved it, you would not be reading this page. What we sell is not proximity, it is a plan somebody else is responsible for.
Will I be out of my depth?
Nobody here is doing what you are doing. Up to six people train at once and every one is on a different programme, so there is nothing to keep up with and nobody to fall behind.
Do you get many people from up this way?
Eighteen in every hundred members, measured from real addresses rather than guessed. It is the second-largest group after The Beaches itself.
How do I start?
A private Body Reset Baseline. Thirty minutes, one to one, at the studio on Queen Street East. No charge and nothing to buy at the end of it.
